[Employee Spotlight] Meet Ghada ELLEFI

Ghada ELLEFI is 26 years old and she arrived in France in order to complete her Master's degree in nanoelectronics, she is now an Orinoxian and application engineer deployed in an engineering company specialised in the oil and gas industry.

How did you arrive at ORINOX?

I’ve been co-opted by an Orinoxian (Haythem Kamoun)

Why did you choose to work for ORINOX?

I chose to be part of ORINOX because it is a young company where I have the possibility to progress and participate into the company's development.

What did you like about ORINOX training?

The training provided by ORINOX give the opportunity to learn about AVEVA software and to be able to complete missions at clients by ourselves. What I've particularly liked it is the training environment, such as devices, offices and trainers. Another good thing about the training at ORINOX is that we work close to the design office and it helps us to integrate into ORINOX.

What are you doing in our client company ? 

I am administrating the piping catalogue on different projects with AVEVA tools.

• I configure and deal with AVEVA tools according to project requirements
• I create and administrate AVEVA projects (database, user rights management)
• I create catalogues (components) and specifications for all project disciplines (piping, structure, cable trays, etc.)
• Technical support for users

Can you explain what is doing an application engineer?

As an application engineer I manage the administration of the PDMS software. I also guarantee the consistency and accessibility of information. Finally, I act as intermediaries between the design office and project engineers to ensure data quality and consistency in AVEVA software.

What is a good application engineer?

A good application engineer must understand well the software. You must also have a good communication skills and be attentive to users needs.

How do we become an application engineer?

Because few schools gives trainings about AVEVA software and about general installation there is no special career path to follow. As far as I'm concerned, I did ORINOX training after my second year of Master's degree in nanoelectronics.

What are the main skills an application engineer should have?

An application engineer has to be an expert in PDMS and especially the implementation of all AVEVA tools. Then, we expect an application engineer to be reactive because he/she should be able to solve problems quickly to not stop any process. Finally, he/she should be open minded and curious because an application engineer is aimed to learn everyday.

Does it please you to work for one of our client?

Yes I do like to work for our clients because I like to be flexible and adaptable. We always go to work for different clients and everytime the organisation, working space and responsibilities are changing.

What is/was your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge has been to understand all the functionalities of AVEVA software. It was all new for me because I graduated Master's degree in nanoelectronics microelectronics which has nothing to do with PDMS.
In the client company, my challenge has been to gather and understand all the information necessary to complete successfully my work and to not depend on my colleagues.

In which client company would you like to work?

I have no particular wishes, but if we have to give examples, I might say Total or Technip.

Do you like a domain more than another one?

I like the field of oil and gas or energy because these are the areas I am the most comfortable with.

What advice would you give to new recruits?

I would tell them to fully enjoy their training time at ORINOX and to ask as many questions as they can before going to work for a client. I would also tell them to take advantage of the ORINOX Design Office's working environment, because the Orinoxians are very friendly and organize many events.

What do you particularly like in your job?

I particularly do like that ORINOX is a young company, really open-minded and attentive to its employees. For example, my manager is following closely my career path and I can rely on him. Also, if I need help, I can count on my colleagues always available if needed.
