Hello Sébastien! Can you tell us more about you?
I come from Chateaubriant and have been working for orinox for 5 years now. I started at ORINOX by doing an internship at the end of my bachelor degree in IT. Then, I continued to work for the company during my master degree thanks to a sandwich course work placements.
What are your daily day tasks?
My main task is to develop a web platform which meets the service needs based on this platform. Therefore, I must understand needs, think and create a solution and then implement it. I also have other tasks such as occasionally help with our ERP or other technologies or tools that I know.
Why did you choose to be software developer?
I did not know so much about what to do after high school and IT was a hobby. I liked trying new technologies and developing things, so back then, I realized that I could work in the IT field. Since that, I can tell that it was a pretty good idea.
What technologies do you use?
I usually use PHP and Symfony framework but thanks to the various services we develop and use, I also use Javascript, C#, Python and many associated tools... Some of our services are hosted on Amazon Web Services
What qualities are required to do your work?
The IT field is changing fast. So you have to be curious and resourceful in order to keep up with the new technologies and being able to handle it. Working independently is also essential, you must know how to find solutions to your problems on your own before asking for help.
Why should our readers should choose to work for ORINOX?
ORINOX is a young and fast-moving company. It is possible to work on many different projects and different types of technologies and languages which is really interesting and motivating. We are also free to suggest ideas in order to improve our work or the company etc.
Do you have any advice for a future software developer?
Again, I would say that it is necessary to be curious, involved and work independently. Having a project next to work is a big plus. It means that you are not afraid of trying and use new technologies without even knowing it. It is obviously not possible to know everything in computer language or new technologies but you can easily find information and therefore keeping it in mind for future projects..
