Throwback: ORINOX at the AVEVA World Conference North America 2018

In February 2018 ORINOX participated as exhibitor and presenter in the AVEVA World Conference North America in Houston, Texas, United States of America. ORINOX was also the proud sponsor of the Innovation Night; this year’s networking event in “New Orleans” style.
This year’s topic was “Digitalization: getting it right” and ORINOX’s exhibition booth was a perfect match. ORINOX Cloud Work Spaces (OCWS), ORINOX Model Review (OMR), Plant Virtual Reality, and our entire suite of Digitalization Services were presented and discussed with interested visitors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A lot of interesting presentations around the topic of digitalization were provided by industrial leaders:

Han Lin from Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) talked about “Digitilization with AVEVA Tools in the Cloud”. SoCalGas has been working to build a Digital Asset solution using AVEVA. His presentation discussed the strategies, challenges, and lessons learned from using AVEVA Integrated Engineering Design tools on the ORINOX cloud (OCWS) to execute capital projects.

Thierry Vermeersch (AVEVA) and Maxime Foureau (ORINOX) discussed the importance of Cloud solutions. According to them, as projects become increasingly complex and cost-sensitive, with project teams spread across the globe and the emergence of Industry 4.0, the ability to share and access the latest project data is more important than ever.

The presentation provided a progress report on AVEVA tools in the cloud to date, and explored the future of AVEVA’s Cloud solution as well as ORINOX’s existing secure, viable and streamlined solution available.

In an AVEVA ERM related presentation, Justin Weaver from Southern Company explained that Digitalization often focuses on engineering and design. He showed how digitalization can open up opportunities in EPC project performance beyond engineering.

His presentation reviewed the potential benefits Southern Company has found in procurement, construction, project controls, and commissioning. It also covered the implementation plan at Southern Company and how it ties into their larger Advanced Work Packaging and Materials Management initiatives.

All in all, the AVEVA World Conference North America 2018 was an inspiring experience. The presentations, exhibits and networking events truly help to manifest the idea of digitalization, understand the obstacles and detours in implementation, and identify the benefits.
